Bottle Tree by cdonohoue

Bottle Tree

I need to thank each of you for putting my fly on the Popular Page. I am deeply grateful.

Folks were commenting on my bottle tree so I found a spot to show it off a little. Gina, my youngest son's significant other got this for me for my birthday in February. It is about 5 1/2 feet tall and made of iron. It has spokes that you need to bend out with pliers and then we keep adding to the bottle collection. Some are the obvious wine bottles, some are just colorful from different stores. And some are little vases that I like. One is significant. I found it in the basement on my Dad's workbench. It has the name of a brewery that was here in Cincinnati and went out of business due to Prohibition. He had kept it down there all these years - and my Dad didn't drink! I love the bottle tree and still have lots of spokes to fill. Come on over and we'll have a glass of wine.
I bet Dean Martin had one of these in his garden long before you did. :-p

That's a great idea. It would keep me busy looking for all sorts of colourful bottles and tasty contents. I'll be popping over to your place for a sundowner tonight, Cathy.

Makes a colourful addition to the garden. When I saw them in your last picture I thought they were a sort of scarecrow.

Lovely garden ornament! I'll have to keep an eye out for one - there's a few spots in my garden that could use a spot of colour.
