Doesn't look like much, does it? Well this particular elk is walking by at cloud height. He is ambling along in freezing conditions on the tundra at the top of the Rocky Mountain National Park - at over 12,200ft of elevation. This is one of those shots that takes me back to standing in front of wall of snow in late June getting my picture taken and practically grabbing the camera from Tom to get this guy. The winds were wicked and threatened to bowl me over so I am amazed at a clear shot. We saw 100's of elk in the meadows below - but this guy was happy to be a loner and do his own thing on top of the world.
