My nephew's Senior Night by cdonohoue

My nephew's Senior Night

My nephew played his final game at Sycamore High School last night - and I got to try out the used lens that I bought that was supposed to be good for sport's photography. I impressed myself - not really, it is all camera and lens. But I got some good shots - not always of Cody as I couldn't find him. His uncle is the Assistant Athletic Director and he got Tom and I down on the field. I have a ways to go with battling lighting on these night football games but it was a lot of fun - except the freezing part!
You seem to have done very well, looking at this shot. Great focus and light. Well done!

#48 is very close to holding, maybe even a facemask.

A perfect group of sportsmen in a beautifully composed, although it must have been by chance, group....such clarity with no hint of movement you should be well pleased with your lens Cathy.

Fantastic action shot! My son plays, and I have given up trying to get good pictures from the stands.

@worthitall It's not me it's the lens. It is a 2.8mm 70-200 that I got used and I think it may be worth every penny. It is so big that I have to use a monopod or I drop on every shot.

Great capture of a special night for him!!

Fab shot! That's the lens that I've been thinking of getting, but I think the weight may be too much. May have to try the f4 - it's supposed to be much lighter. I have a monopod, but prefer to shoot hand held.

Great shot of all the action! Really well done. It sounds like a lot of "lasts" for your grandson this year. That will be both bittersweet and nice.

@timandelke I love it. The monopod is surprisingly easy to use for this sort of photography. I can handhold it - but not for long. It is just too heavy and my old hands have a tendency to let it dip.
