I love a building with great architecture and for years this old home has always intrigued me. I found a little history about it.
The Widow's Watch House was built in the mid-1800s by John Steele in an Eclectic Italianate style topped off by a watch tower. Here at the highest elevation between Lexington and the Kentucky River, Steele could observe his workers on the Woodlawn Farm raising wheat and hemp along with mules and sheep. The bottom floor of the house was renovated in 1998 for $400,000 and the owners hope someday the top floors will be re-done and used as a Bed & Breakfast.
Today it is a 300 acre golf course and has hosted the Teardrop Tour and the PGA Junior National Series.
I've been waiting all summer for the golf season to be over with so I could snap a picture without people being in the way!
Beautiful, Cindy! I continually seek out churches and old historical sites but not that much around here. Keep 'em coming.....and as usual your composition, colors and tones are perfect. I still need to give you those digital photo sites on FB but you really don't need any help from what I can see. One is Digital Photography School where you can sign up for a newsletter; the other is by fellow 365er http://www.photokonnexion.com where you can also sign up for daily hints. I have them all saved but never seem to have time with all my other hobbies and things to do,;-) But they have some great info!
