(Day 202) - Raynox DCR-150

Was in the mood to create a type of 'product photography' shot so what better way than to photograph my new Raynox 150. It's kind of like a filter as it snaps right on to the front of the lens. It's able to increase the magnification of a standard lens giving it a macro effect. While not as powerful as a true macro lens, it was much cheaper (a standard macro for my camera costs about between 400 to 800 bucks while this was only $70). While the lens itself is 43mm, the adaptor piece allows it to fit a lens from 52-67mm.

At first, thought it looked a bit awkward but after it stimulated some "hey that looks cool and professional" comments from my family, I had a change of heart. Plus it’s pretty handy.
Oh so pretty to have :)

Very cool...I'm heading to google as I'm wondering if this would work to make a 50mm regular lens into a 50mm macro. Nice photographed -- you could work for people who want to post on eBay!

@taffy - Thank you Taffy! I have a 50mm and as soon as I try it, I'll post and let you know. I read somewhere that it does very good on a 50mm but I also read somewhere else that it doesn't give a whole lot of magnification on a 50mm but can improves it's sharpness. So not entirely sure maybe your research will yield further answers. And I'm actually giving the eBay thing some thought. I want to try improve my skills first and then we'll see.

Looks like a fun thing to have Chris! Looking forward to going thru your photos some more to see what you've done with it!

@lynnb - Yeah I'm having blast using this little thing. I'm still getting used to taking macro photos. Trying to focus with such a shallow depth of field can drive me insane sometimes. haha. But still enjoyable trying to learn.
