...well not really. haha. This tree is called a Carolina Cherry Laurel. If you're familiar with cherry blossom trees, you know that many of them bloom for a very short period at a certain time of the year. This particular one will bloom for a short time in the spring but it also blooms in the winter for a few days. That being the case, they stand out in the winter and have always reminded me of snow covered trees! Also, they grow very dark cherries that make a tasty treat for birds but are considered toxic to humans and pets. So baking a Cherry Laurel Pie would probably not be the best idea! :(
I'm so jealous right now as we have temps between -30 and -45 with the windchill here. I like the diptych for the context and the close up of the flowers. Nicely done.
@vankrey - Oh wow those are some freezing temps Michael! I never even been in weather that cold before. Today we had a sunny 70 degrees. haha. Thanks for the kind comment and for reminding me that this was a diptych. I totally forgot about that word.
@eyesmile - haha we get no winter at all! We used to get a lot of rain in the winter but that hasn't happened for years. Oh well, maybe next year. Thanks a bunch for the kind comment Gena!
