I've always put off water drop shots in our bathroom because I couldn't figure out how to stop the motion with barely enough light. Yesterday's photo gave me the idea to try it out with my external flash as a slave again. It worked! However shadows were appearing inside the water droplet because my on-camera flash was hitting the subject directly. So I covered my on-camera flash with a paper towel to diffuse the light while at the same time allowed the off-camera external flash to fire at an angle. One suggestion that I found while doing research on water drop shots is post your background image upside-down, whereby the image would appear right-side up in droplet. Cool! The background image you see here is a colorful paper towel taped to our bathroom sink. Even though this took much patience, timing, and hundreds of shots, it was still a joy to create! :)
Very cool indeed, what a capture in the droplet simply perfect. I've been trying water this week but feel like I need to put a bit more effort into it now. Well done with this one.
@briggsy - Thanks David! Many of my water shots this week I've been wanting to try for a while and since it's Macro March thought I finally give them a go. I have to say, your water week photos are super incredible and have played a part in inspiring me :)
