Wanted to add an oil and water photo to my Aqua October theme today. Normally when creating these shots, I pour water in a clear dish and pour in less than an inch of vegetable oil. This time, I poured in about an inch of water and small dabs of oil here and there. It was then time to stir it up really fast, which result in all these little spots of oil after it settled.
Underneath the glass I placed some colorful Skittles candy. The color was so amazing that I didn't have to edit it. This shot is straight out of the camera (sooc). :)
@miata2u - That happened to me the first few times but I found that it's much better to not use too much water and to add very small dabs of oil, let it settle, then stir it up really fast. After that you should get a bunch of smaller dabs of oil.
@trishaclancy - Yeah go for it Trisha! Instead of using flash, I went outside and used direct sunlight, which made it simple and helped me to use a fast shutter speed.
