As a kid, I would find so many marbles in the dirt. It was like finding buried treasure. Always wondered why so many were found there. Was there a Great Marble War in the past I didn't know about. ;)
there was, in the ancient times, when i was still young. i would steal all my brother's marbles, climb the mango tree and throw them randomly at the bad children in the neighbourhood. if they don't see me, i'd drop a mango fruit or two. if they see me, marble war!!!!!
Ah, the great marble wars; I think I read about them. Actually, we used to literally fry cat's eye marbles then put them in ice water to great effect, but mom really got upset that her good fry pans were always ruined...ah well. :(
@summerfield - Hahaha so that's how all these marbles got around. That's too funny! It paid to be a good child in your neighborhood, unless you wanted to be clocked in the head. :P
I do still jealously keep five marbles, I think for more than forty years now: they are white opaline glass, not the usual clear glass ones, and they sit in a small tray on my office desk.... oh yes, they are a treasure!
My sisters had a marble game called "Ker-plunk!". It was a clear cylinder with tiny holes around the middle. You put pick up stick skewers through the holes to create a web, then marbles were poured in from the top. The idea was to pull out the sticks without causing any marbles to drop. Being the perfectionist that I am, it was very stressful when those marbles dropped! haha I too think this looks like an eye- but then that's why they call them "cat's eye" marbles! Another good brown shot!
@shylaine3304 - Glad to bring you back to your childhood for a moment. I'm amazed at how they tend to do that. :)
@olivetreeann - I looked up Ker-plunk on Youtube! It looks like such a fun game. I can see how the perfectionist could be stressed out by it! I'm gonna have to look for this one! Thank you!
@granagringa - That sounds amazing!! Might have to give that a try one of these days...with very old pans, that is. My mom would kill me if I used her good ones. :P
A very earthy capture Chris, I like the differences between the wet and dry mud and like others have said, the marble does look like an eye staring out at you!
