(Day 328) - Green Sea by cjphoto

(Day 328) - Green Sea

Most of the time the ocean is blue. However, it can also appear green in places, like Northern California. One reason is due to phytoplankton, algae, or other organic matter resting close to the surface and emitted an almost jade color.

Hopefully we can keep the entire ocean "green" by doing our part to protect it. :)

lets hope so. When you hear of all the bits of plastic that the poor sea birds injest its horrifying. We recycle all our plastic and our supermarkets do not supply free plastic bags. Most people take reusable bags.

Great idea for your green month, Chris. Love the image and sentiments behind it, but I keep looking at it and wonder what it would look like with the fish and seaweed to the left of the image. Compositionally it would give the fish somewhere to move into.
Maybe I have misread it, and that is the message you intended, that the fish in the seas are running out of places to swim.

Anyway for such a simple mono colour image, I have spent ages looking at it thinking about it. If you pardon the pun, this one has me hooked.

So ecological! A sailor went to sea, sea, sea to see what he could see, see, see...etc. You;ve driven me to children's ditties...what fun.

@markp - Thanks so much for the feedback Mark! I really appreciate it! I was thinking about the same thing compositionally after I took the shot and was working on it in post-production. I wasn't quite sure how to make the fish swim in the other direction while at the same time keeping them on the right side of the frame (which is what I wanted). But it just came to me what I could do to make it work! So now you have me very curious to try the other direction (although I do like your viewpoint of them running out of space haha). I'm gonna go for it when I have time and let you know. :)

@cruiser - I know it's so sad to hear and see sad! Our supermarkets are the same way now so maybe it'll help a bit. I'm positive that one day such sad sights will be gone for good. That's so nice of you to do your part in the meantime. :)

@grammyn - Hahaha I have you peering over all my shots now. Maybe if you squint very carefully. Just kidding...no hidden dino here.

@lyndemc - Thank you Denise! It's the light coming in the window of my room. I'm always wondering if that light looks okay because it's side-lighting but it worked out very well.

@gigiflower - Hey Sam! Thanks very much! I see you're back in action again. Awesome shots you have so far!
