Playing around with high-key photography to emphasize the inside of a marble. Did you know that, just like the exterior of a marble, the colorful swirls inside are glass too?
When glass is heated, it can be stretched, cut, rolled, and shaped as if it were taffy or clay. For marbles, small streams of colored glass are inserted into the center of a lump of clear glass. As it is being rolled into a ball, the colored center receives a slightly twisted shape. Lastly, it cools and hardens, leaving the maker with a round work of art. :)
A beautiful photo highlighting the colored glass inside the marble. I had never thought before of how they were made. I bet it would be fascinating to watch.
You know, Chris, I might have thought of that had I taken the time, but I really loved reading about it here in your explanation! Actually, that's really fascinating!
