Our brave little Legographer is at it again, this time he's shooting wildlife photography. I must say, squirrels are huge compared to CJ! We didn't expect him to get this close.
The squirrel LOVED the peanuts. He would grab it, then run away to eat it in peace but kept coming back for more. Strangely, though, he kept eyeing CJ like we wanted to eat him!!! So CJ had to keep his guard up. Squirrel photography is dangerous work for the little guy. :D
Brilliant! A big fave.
Can I ask for your permission to use this image in our local camera club newsletter? I will not be offended if you decline. I just think your ideas and perseverance are incredible!
CJ is looking quite dapper as a wildlife photographer! Piggy once posed with a squirrel who was eating a peanut as well (the original Buster) and so she knows how scary it can be. Good job CJ! And yes, squirrels do love peanuts!
dide - Hi Dianne! Yes! I'd be honored to have my image as part of your local camera club newsletter. If possible, would you also be able to include my website: www.cjohnsonphoto.com? It contains links to all my monthly themes on 365 and I'm hoping to soon include blog posts on how I come up with ideas and scheduling them. :)
Thanks so much every one for all the marvelous feedback and Favs!! CJ's very happy that putting his life on the line was worth it, haha. Glad you guys enjoyed his adventure and bravery! :)
@olivetreeann - Thanks very much Ann! CJ's said he's happy to have a friend who can relate to this! We always enjoy all your photos, especially Piggy and the Critters. I'm trying to remember your squirrel shot. Do you happen to have a link to it? I'd love to see it again. :)
@gardenfolk - Thanks so much for the comment and Fav! It probably took me about 30 minutes. I kept having trouble finding the proper focal length. I was too zoomed in and kept missing the full squirrel. I zoomed out and moved back to get a wider view. This made it a lot easier to get the action. I cropped the image later.
It also took some time to find a squirrel who would trust me after giving him nuts. Sometimes they don't trust you right away. This guy, on the other hand, trusted me immediately. Some workers mowing the park's lawn scared him away. So I sat on the bench for about 10mins and he came back! That's when I caught this shot. Afterward, I left he a bunch of peanuts by his tree to say thanks :)
@cjphoto Well, Chris... it looks like you found a willing participant and it was nice of you to pay him in extra peanuts. I thought it was such a fun photo that I sent it to my grand boys who are Lego crazy. They think their parents should get Legos for their Christmas or birthday gifts too. LOL! Waiting for you to make some little books, perfect for six and four-year-olds! :)
@cjphoto I guess I never posted it because I just looked through both my albums and I can't find it... oh wait, maybe it's in the toy group. I'll have to check but if it is, I'm not sure it can be linked now since that group is defunct. I'll give it a try!
This is so awesome, Chris!!! I guess you figured I might LOVE it!!! I hope this catapults you to the Top Twenty! Its so clever and excellently accomplished!
@gardenfolk - Haha the squirrel totally deserved it for helping me out. I remember being just like your grand boys at their age, I had lego on my mind ALL the time. I would flip through toy catalogs and imagine all the adventures I'd have when I get the next set. I'm totally excited to make some books out of his adventures for kids (and kids at heart). The hard part is finding the time but it's definitely a goal for this year. Stay tuned. :)
@olivetreeann - No worries Ann! The photo might even show up when you least expect it. Either that or it's time to grab Piggy and a bowl of peanuts and give it a go again! Haha.
@Weezilou - Aww shucks! Thanks so much!! You're so good at capturing animals (including squirrels) so you gave me some inspiration, as animals are not my strong suit.

Thanks so much to each one of you for dropping by and saying such kind remarks! CJ and I'm sure the squirrel say thanks too! :D
