Drystone Wall

Picture taken last weekend when climbing a stile over a Lake District drystone wall while out fell walking. These walls are incredible - built to last, and many have already survived for hundreds of years. Occasionally they will develop a "hole" and the stones need to be put back carefully to fill in the gaps. There is no cement used whatsoever to keep them together. All down to skill!
I love this type of image. We have a lots of these in Scotland, but they are built in a slightly different way - I think it's just that the shape of the stones are different. Super capture.
