The puddle continued to melt. There was a clear layer of water on top of the puddle. There was a layer of ice under this layer of water. I was surprised by this. Almost all of the other puddles in the neighborhood had a layer of ice floating on top of the puddles. Bubbles formed in the water. Leaves continued to sink to the bottom of the puddle. The bottom of the puddle was muddy. In fact, the whole area around the puddle was quite muddy. I thought I was going to lose my shoe in the mud!
