Sometimes, the alley puddle has distinct layers. The tree branches are reflected on the top layer of the puddle. The mud has settled onto a leaf at the bottom of the puddle. Bird tracks can be seen all over the mud. I never realized how much birds rely upon puddles. I always thought that the alley puddles should be filled in by the city. Now, I see the value of the puddles. I don't like driving through the puddles, especially if they are deep ones. However, I can now see the value of the puddles for the birds and other animals.
