Hello, 365 World! I decided to have a crack at doing another 365 full project, what, 9 years in to occasionally being a member after the second year?
Today's walkabout was brief. It's raining. I barely got out of bed (so comfy for the new year). I took only a 50 mm and 35 lens. The former is not my own, so I dared not get in the rain with it. I caught some other great shots of the rain in concentric circles on the pavement--one with a cool water droplet just making its burst! And I looked up in the sky, and the birds showed up--blue birds, robins, chickadees--then a huge hawk, just begging me to get a shot, but I had only the two lenses. A reminder that sometimes I really don't take in the absolute wonders of life as they happen.
2020 was a shit year for me, as I'm sure it was for others, but I did survive professionally (just barely), personally (with some caveats--deaths, yada, yada, yada), and physically and mentally (well physically). Ha. No matter what I say, someone else has had it so much worse, so I'll just shut up.
This shot is of the side of a fire hydrant in the middle of an office park where I do a weekly "walk and talk" with a friend who relocated to upstate NY JUST before the pandemic hit. We catch up on the state of the world in about an hour, or 3.1 miles, or 5 connecting office parks devoid of any humans I know of so I can walk without a mask.
I'll be 56 on Jan. 21. My hope is between now and then, we'll have a new president, and two new democratic senators from GA (a girl can dream). We'll see what happens.
Meanwhile, I hereby authorize myself to start a real 365 project. It's with all the right intentions. It may come with all the impediments.
If you are new to my site, welcome. Those of you who know me, Hello Again!
Hot Dog! (it makes no sense, but I do this after spending too much time being verbose). xoxo
Hi! First, cool macro capture with awesome textures. Second, Welcome back! I'm looking forward to seeing your 2021 captures. (and, like you, I am excited for a new President - I know it won't be an instant change since we are in such a mess, but at least I have hope for our country now)
@linnypinny Good to be back! I'm optimistic, but I also know I've attempted these over the years only to let other things take precedence, BUT, we are still pretty locked down here, so no harm in trying again! Yes to something different! YES!
Hot dog! How funny that as I was reading a really long narrative of someone yesterday I thought of you and hot dog and today here you are! So happy,
Very unusuall photo to start off with and looking forward to so many more♥
Such a COOL image to re-start your 365, Daryl! I've been in and out over these last years but mostly in these days. And the community here is so welcoming. See you "around"
@grammyn I am glad you are glad! I do go on and on sometimes. I have no clue what photos will be in the mix this year. I'd love to say I have "goals" but getting actual photos with an actual camera is the bar at the moment. ;)
@jgpittenger I don't have an actual bird lens, which makes me laugh a lot because I try to get them with non-bird lenses all the time. I'm trying to decide if I should switch up the equipment all-together now--go mirrorless even? Oof, I'll wait for a bit.
Very unusuall photo to start off with and looking forward to so many more♥
