This big old macrocarpa tree is not far from our place. Macrocarpa (also know as Monterey cypress) were brought to New Zealand in the 1860s and often planted as shelter belts, providing good wind and rain shelter for the stock. They are shallow rooted and large specimen trees (like this one), often blow over in high winds.
Good shot Dianne, the structures in the background and the horse give the tree an excellent framework of reference. Hope it doesn't blow over on you or anything precious, the top of the tree doesn't look too flash.
