Trimming the trees by dide

Trimming the trees

We planted these trees too close to the power lines, so here they are being trimmed. Tomorrow the top third will be cut off, so we can have the rest cut down without needing to involve the power board again.
That looks like quite a bit of work

Oh dear, what a shame. But as you'd well know, it's easy to plant too closely when the trees are in tubes

@golftragic um, yes. 30 years ago they were so tiny......

Looks like a big job.. but it will be a good job when done..

What a shame, rather him than me though in the cherry picker.

It must cost a fortune to do this. They are so high.

@bkbinthecity @golftragic @julzmaioro @onewing @yaorenliu I would be upset, but the trees are dying - seems they only live for 25-30 years, so we will need to look at some (shorter) shelter.

Rather him than me...

Nice shot of the men at work. 25-30 years is quite short-lived for trees.

Wow that's a tricky job. Great picture

That'll teach ya...been a while since they were planted though.
Love the bollards straining to get a better view.
September 28th, 2015
@mortoncoe yes - they do look like they are all straining to look up.

These had a long time to grow up to the power lines! Will you miss them?

September 28th, 2015
@taffy yes we will be exposed to the wind again.
September 28th, 2015
We trim them to make windshields around orchards and beside roads. Great shot of the work

He's got a birds' eye view up there.
September 29th, 2015
Doylu have to take them down? Couldnt you just trim them and leave them as a wind shield. This is a powerful shot
September 30th, 2015
@kelly2 unfortunately they are dying and full of borer so we will take them down.
