Past their best!

I planted dahlias for the first time at the end of last year. They grew really well and flowered beautifully. Then they decided to have another lot of flowers and were looking great. I took a big bunch of them to work on Monday and kept thinking I should take a photo of their display. Well… last night we had a huge storm and the wind was coming in right from the coast - the salt laden winds burnt them off and this was what they looked like today. A bit late for the image I had in mind.

Certainly caused havoc in the garden .. my late tomatoes that have been producing so well look a bit like this now..

I heard about this storm, our DIL sent a photo of her wearing her socks & jandals! Wind does enormous damage.

Sorry to see this. We went to a local garden yesterday and found all the dahlias we'd seen there a week or two ago had been dug out! Now there is just bare dirt waiting for the next planting. Yours are a lovely colour, hope they recover and do well next year too.
