The godwits by dide

The godwits

The godwits have arrived in NZ. They fly non-stop from Alaska or Siberia and it takes them 8-9 days. They hold a world record for non-stop flight.
We are staying at Ambury Park on the Manukau Harbour. Nearby are some sand and shell banks and thousands of birds.
I am so envious! Used to go there when my mum was alive and lived nearby - brings back some happy memories!

I have never seen a Godwit ...what a strange name for a bird! They look quite big & I presume a sea bird.
