Where we stayed at the beach the other night was right by the beginning of the Hauraki Cycleway. It is a lovely off-road track - some bits are more interesting than others, but it is nice not to have to worry about traffic. The best part isn't even on the signpost - Paeroa to Waihi. This is the bit following a river gorge and is the most interesting ride.
