NZ Dotterel by dide

NZ Dotterel

We are at Omana Regional Park, near the beach. There is an area fenced off to keep the dogs away from the dotterel chicks. This year, three chicks hatched at this site, but now there are only two as it seems a black-backed gull may have taken one. This little guy seemed happy to pose and it was good that I had my 'big' lens.
Great shot - we get a few here, unfortunately some of them breed outside the protected areas and i don't see them grow up......
