I went to see my orthopedic surgeon on Thursday regarding my thumb. His office is up the street from this hospital where I used to work at back in 1999 and it is where I met my surgeon. At that time he was completing his residency on the rehab unit where I worked. Anyway, I received a cortisone injection in the muscle around my joint and then 4 weeks of therapy with hopes of getting relief. If that doesn't work, well then we are looking at a revision to the joint. He would actually go in and remove the artificial joint and instead of the joint he would use some of the tendon in my arm to rebuild the musculature around the thumb joint. Let's hope the therapy works, but if not I will pursue the revision because as it is now, it is extremely painful.
Very complicate but I do hope everything ends well for your thumb and for you. I presume you had some great memories while you were there to see your surgeon.
Painful indeed. Hans has problems with his thumb. hope the injection will give you relief. I had to get another steroid shot in my rotary cup. was so painful again. now I'm doing specific exercises for it.
WOW I hope your therapy works. I had a knee replacement a year and half ago. Its great and I'm glad I did it but oh my with the hand boy. My fingers are crossed and many prayers that you don't have to do the surgery. Oh and by the way this is a great shot looks like a lovely building.
I have pretty bad arthritis in my thumbs so I have an idea of the pain you are experiencing. Medical technology today is so different than just 20 years ago. I certainly hope that the cortisone and the therapy work for you. That surgery sounds pretty intensive.
We haven't heard from you in two weeks and I am concerned. You must not be any better. I hope that you were able to enjoy your Thanksgiving with family. Your 365 family misses you.
