I want to improve on my portrait photos. With Grandkids, I am often asked to take their photos for school, and at other events. I also have a new Grandbaby due in August, so I would like to be prepared. I need a new updated profile photo so I guess this will do for now.
Did you use your portrait function on the camera for this or choose your settings! I like the darkness on one side of the face but find the shadow of your glasses a bit distracting. The light on the end of the nose is a bit bright too. I'm glad you are doing this - I want to learn too!
Like the shot - that area is definitely one of my weaknesses. If I understood lighting better - It does have that "distinguished" look - but might be better with more even lighting - though "how" I don't have a clue!
@maggiemae@dmortega@milaniet Everything you all said is true. Lighting is so critical in portraits. I had the general lighting of the room, and then an overhead light, that was it, so no filler, etc. I am looking forward to some instruction, and then I must buy some lights.
Portraiture lighting can be a lot of fun but be careful - you may find yourself having to buy another flash and then back drops and then it just gets way out of control. :)
Very good you look too.....i think you are an expert. I need to be able to take lots of new baby photos in February so I need to practice too I suppose!!
