Show yourselves!! I really think in many cases it's not the camera but the photographer that makes a great photo. I know there are many great photographers with great cameras here, but I want to see what you have done with your P&S cameras!!
I do my project with a P&S, I have never even taken a picture with a DSLR in my life (hopefully someday), but I know that in doing so it has taught me a lot.. A lot of patience for sure!!
Some point and shoots are really good especially ones that do fully manual so are very similar to SLRs in a sense. I dont think many good photos could be taken with a £20/$30 dollar point and shoot with one auto mode but a £200/$300 one good photos can be done well. You are right that its the photographer not the camera that makes a great image , but a good camera and a good photography is a good start to getting the "perfect" image. :)
I'm sure a DSLR would be helpful at getting an even better image, there are so many things that I can't do with my P&S that I could probably so if I owned a DSLR, but I'm not so lucky to be able to afford one.. That being said, I've seen some GREAT pictures with P&S cameras, heck, some taken with iPhones that are better than some people take with their DSLRs. I'm just trying to highlight the hard work that some people put into trying to get nice photographs regardless of the camera they happen to have in their hands. :)
Well I'm really just starting out in photography and own a P&S that was over £200 pounds at the time it was bought 2 years ago. It's a great camera but sadly hasn't got a very good focus, which isn't good seeing as I like taking photos on little things :D I promised myself that if I finish this challenge (I only started yesterday) I shall buy myself a good DSLR as I have my eye on a Nikon! :D
Lovely shots @Danielle I love the flowers with the dark background.
This above was taken with my cell phone camera,
this was taken with point and shoot. most shots on 365 I have done have been with cell and point / shoot
I used my P&S during my first month on 365 but since I wanted to learn more of the settings of my DSLR, I have consistently used the latter on my 2nd month and onwards. But I still love my P&S, the two are so precious to me.
These are amazing!! When my Nikon was being fixed, I used my daughter's P&S and seriously wanted to beat it into the ground by the end of the two weeks (it did have some focusing issues). Kudos to all of you and these fantastic photos!
At first I felt like my P&S was very limiting. But I'm changing my mind as I learn about the camera and how to use it. I'll try to upload a few of my favorites:
Hi...
What amazing pics I have seen with this topic! Thanks for starting it! I too, only have a P&S ..I use my Nikon 630 and when it works my new Nikon S9100. I am so impressed with what I see on 365 that it challenges me to try different things either with my camera or my editting... Here are a couple from my 365 that I just love...
the first couple of months were done with a point and shoot, and i still use it from time to time (though i use my dslr whenever possible, because i'm still learning how to use it.)
I have two digi cameras, both Kodaks, a Z650 and a C-190, and I work them both to death! I used to shoot film SLR all the time until a blast of nostalgia hit me and I went back to 35mm Rangefinders, primarily the Z-I Contax.
My P&S is beginning to show some strain so I will be upgrading to a DSLR sometime in the near future, but I have to admit, I've loved the convenience of my P&S and probably would not have got some of my better shots had I used a chunkier camera. Like this one:
I have a P&S and a DLSR but often find the latter to heavy to carry so most of my shots are done with a P&S, which enables me to be more sneaky with people shots as well ;).
wow! these are some amazing shots you all are posting! I use a p&s for most of my project but I was lucky enough to have a brother-in-law who trusted me with his DSLR for a couple weeks... anyway, here are some of my p&s photos.
Up until last month when I finally got my first SLR, I did my project with my Fujifilm P&S and I loved it, I still carry it around with me all the time
I own one camera... a Kodak Easy Share M550... I think as long as you know how to play with the settings, you can get as good a shot with a P&S then with an expensive DSLR.... Here's a few of mine.
Until May 5th I was all P&S. I think my photography is better since I got my DSLR, but only because I'm continually learning. Until I finish learning manual modes on the DSLR, I'm pretty much treating the poor thing like a P&S. This is one of the last photos I took with the P&S
Terrific photos, everyone!!! I, too, have done my project only with P&S and for the most part, I'm happy with the images I can get. The one advantage I see with the DSLR is better dof/lower f-stop.
This is a photo from over the winter at 18x zoom with my Panasonic DMC-FZ28:
And this is a recent shot with my little Canon Powershot SD1100:
Amazing photographs! Love that they are all with P&S cameras. That is what I have. I have only been using my camera phone for my 365project and I am pretty impressed with some of my shots. :) Bravo peeps!!!
@lvmychunkalunka While I upgraded my camera a few years ago, (or should I say Santa did) I still carry my P&S around in my purse, or on my motorcycle at all times. I have always believed it's the photographer's eye not the camera they carry. Anytime someone says, "I need a better camera" I always respond with...No! Really....you don't! Great job on all these photos! They are gorgeous and wish I could take shots like this!
Everything on my project is P&S - an old Sony Cybershot. I'm pushing to the limits of what I can do using it, and want to upgrade, but a DSLR is not an option.
I have a handfull of shots from my P&S. I started this project to kind of force myself to learn my big camera...but the little guy's macro is so awesome, I had a hard time keeping hands off :)
I used my P& S Canon Powershot SD940 IS, set on the macro (flower) setting for this photo of flowers I saw in the grocery store. Then I cropped the photo in Picnik, then added the frame and my watermark in Picnik.
I'm really enjoying these shots. I use a Fuji Finepix 1800 p&s. It's my fourth digital p&s camera and right now I'm drooling over a newer Finepix. I love using my p&s cameras.
@lvmychunkalunka I agree with you about the eye and perspective of the photographer being more important then the camera! and look at all these great examples!
I have done my entire project with a P&S as well
it's so frustrating sometimes trying to find a way to have control over the settings... I've figured out some tricks to automatic focus and stuff
I have started with a P&s and still use it very often. It is a very good camera though . This pictures from two days ago was taken by it for example in almost dark conditions.
@bekki
Lovely shots @Danielle I love the flowers with the dark background.
All of my photos are done with a p&s
Wow great work guys! Gorgeous!

YOU ALL DO AWESOME WORK WITH YOUR P&S CAMERAS!!!! (sorry if I missed anyone above)
One of the things that I do like about my little P&S is the ability to switch from color to b&w and sepia tone.
Last one- I'm finally getting the hang of the macro setting as well and I love how this camera responds to color.
