12th April 2016

Today is our thirteenth wedding anniversary. We had decided to make a day of it and so headed up town for the day. We started with cooked breakfast at the golf club so that we would not need to stop for lunch. Later in the afternoon we enjoyed one of Colin’s birthday presents - afternoon tea at the Raymond Blanc restaurant at Tower Hill. Before hand we had walked quite a bit of the city (to walk off breakfast) and discovered the fascinating Postman’s Park in the grounds of St Botolph’s in Aldersgate but only after a detour via totally the wrong place... also called St Botolph’s!

In the evening we saw Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue. I had booked the best seats in the house as a Christmas present for Colin and the show was amazing. However, despite a fantastic view from the dress circle, the seats were quite small and there was very little leg space. A bit of a disappointment but otherwise we had a great day and the sun shone! This is the roof terrace of ‘One New Change’ looking towards St Paul’s.

As a footnote, each year I try and get just a little gift for Colin based on either the modern or traditional gifts. This year the traditional was lace so I went for modern - textiles with a personalised cotton bag for his golf balls!
