This lovely plant is an 'liriope', part of the lily family. I'll be honest that I had no idea what it was but my friends Sarah and Patrick gave it to me after I gave them a lift home after Izzy's barbecue. I think it looks rather like grape hyacinth (Muscari). It is also rather famous as it was part of Paddy's silver-gilt medal winning garden at Chelsea this year.
