8th October 2017

What a difference a day makes or rather a night of sleep!

I definitely felt refreshed this morning and as we just had to get to a little town delightfully named Keith by the end of the day on our journey toKangaroo Island, we decided to have a break from driving and to explore Port Fairy before we moved on.

In the morning we walked all around Griffith Island, a small island with a light house. We saw a New Zealand fur seal pup up close as we crossed the bridge and then got caught in a brief shower which is when this photo was taken which makes it look like very bad weather. Funnily enough the clouds cleared as quickly as they had arrived and we had sun for the rest of the day. We set off after a picnic lunch spent watching the surfers catch the waves for one of the most pleasant drives I have had - virtually deserted roads, interesting countryside, outback, vineyards and towns with only two roads but big names.

Eventually we arrived at the Keith Motor Inn which was pleasantly situated although for some reason with an incredibly scented room - we searched high and low for the air freshener to unplug it but never did find it. The bathroom sink was also in the kitchen area which was a bit unusual. The high point was when I found a Barn Owl outside in one of the trees which has added to my list... coming up to 50 species of bird now.

Evening meal in the only food place in town - the Keith hotel!
Nice composition
