22nd November 2017

Bad start, good end to the day.

Bad start as I had a hygienist and dentist appointment in the morning. Whilst only routine, the hygienist is my nemesis and for some reason it is 25 minutes of pure agony, especially when she uses the ultrasonic cleaner. The dental appointment afterwards was a synch in comparison and my dentist has actually reduced my appointments down to just one year as my teeth are fine.

I popped into Richmond afterwards, mainly to have a shortbread biscuit and tea at our favourite cafe just to spite the hygienist although I have to say it was pretty uncomfortable eating it.

However, the day improved this evening when we headed into town for a candle light session at Southwark Cathedral in Borough. I had booked tickets all the way back in the summer as I thought it would be a nice Christmassy thing to do. Despite Colin not wanting to go at the time, he changed his mind at the last moment but luckily I was able to get him a spare ticket from friend who was unable to come.

It really was a lovely couple of hours, the church was filled with candles and they only let about 40 people in so there was plenty of room for us all to get out our tripods etc. It was peaceful and quite stunning to have the run of a 12th century building. We headed to a great Turkish restaurant in Southwark afterwards which we had visited some time ago on one of my photo club summer walks. Just as good this time.
