Today is our 15th wedding anniversary. That’s a long time! We celebrated by going up town as I wanted to see the Travel Photographer of the Year prints which this year were displayed outside on the South Bank in front of City Hall. Before we headed to the South Bank I took Colin to the Cross Bones Cemetery in Borough. It is a fascinating place which over the centuries has had thousands of burials although now it is deconsecrated and little is left. Instead, volunteers have created a little urban garden of remembrance and for this first time it was open for us to actually go in - it was really interesting.
The TPOTY was a good exhibition although not quite as good as past years I have seen. It really was so cold that I had to dig the gloves out of my bag! I ended up taking photos of a woman and her partner - the woman was the prize winning photographer and her husband the diver in her beautiful blue underwater photograph of a Mexican cenote.
Afterwards Colin suggested that we go into City Hall to have a look and after a full-scale airport like security entrance we were in and took advantage of a heavily subsidised cafe for lunch. We popped to Stanford’s for a Costa Rica map (could be a possible destination for us next year) and then it was home on the train. After a very brief rest of the feet we headed out again for an excellent Thai meal at The Albert in Twickenham. We often make similar choices on each visit as the food is superb.
