20th May 2018

Onto the last stage of our trip today back up to the north coast where we are staying just outside of San Sebastian in a little place called Getaria.

I’m sorry to leave the peace of Valgañón and the comfort of our room, albeit with rather zealous over tidying! The local birds left a special present for Colin as he suffered a direct hit whilst packing the car - ha ha! He drove all the way to Getaria, obviously still traumatised from yesterday although it was not a very long drive - about 2 hours this time.

Our second from last accommodation is in a hotel on a vineyard which produces the locally renown wine - Taxioli. This is a white lightly sparkling wine rather like Vinho Verde in Portugal. Lovely views over the vines although not quite as luxurious as Pura Vida in Valgañón. This is the view from our bedroom window.

Although we are in the peace of the vineyard, it’s just a 10 minute walk or so down to the town of Getaria and we managed to get a table at The Mayflower for later in the evening, one of the few places that Colin had earmarked from the Rough Guide that is still open!
