Whilst we were away in Croatia I heard on the news that a decision had been made to change the date of the first Mayday bank holiday in 2020 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day. At first I did not think much about it until I realised that I have had my limited edition print run of 100 calendars printed with the incorrect date. I came up with a solution whilst snorkelling on Korçula Island and it involved using my special Tippex gadget and printing special labels in 6 point text to stick on the new bank holiday date. I had to be very precise so that the finish looked good and it took me some time to match the typeface but in the event it only took a couple of hours to correct all 100 calendars!
In the evening we were watching the 10 o’clock news on BBC one when they mentioned about a partial lunar eclipse. I grabbed my camera and ran upstairs to our bedroom with all the lights off in time to see a really impressive partial eclipse. Last year’s total eclipse was not visible from the UK as it was one of only a few cloudy nights over the very hot summer. This is not the best of shots but you can see some detail in the moon and the clips is very clear which went on for well over an hour.
