This morning I popped into Kingston to get some euros from John Lewis for our trip on Thursday.
We packed the car and drove over to St Mary’s Hall for 7.00pm as we had been allocated just an hour to set up. As I had practiced the layout of the stall on Sunday in the event it only took me about 20 minutes to set up. The evening went downhill from this point. The stall looked good, the publicity in advance of the event was good but sadly the yummy mummies that came on their five pound tickets were intent on enjoying their glass of Prosecco, followed by more glasses and even bottles. Some of them did not even bother to look at all of the stalls - there were about sixteen in total. I was one of the very few lucky ones who actually sold some items and so in the end I covered the cost of the stall and came away with a minuscule profit. Some stalls did not sell a single item. I felt so sorry for them and resolved never to do that gig again.
I was so cross when I got home after 2 hours of basically standing and silently fuming that poor Sydney Hamster was thoroughly cleaned out much to his disgust!!
