As the drill bit arrived yesterday, today was the day for fitting the bath handle. However, in an effort to daly this moment I thought I would stock up on essentials (milk etc.) from M&S around the corner. The queue to the Post Office stretched down the road and across the front of the M&S shop. The M&S queue was I thought just around the corner but it turned out to be around the car park and almost out of the other exit onto Cambridge Road. However, everyone outside in the queue was self distancing very well and because of the distance between shoppers, the queue only took fifteen minutes or so to get to the front of the shop. However, once inside and towards the fresh milk section, peoples social distancing went out of the window. Some people were pushing in and others totally ignoring the 2 meter rule. I did my best and paid on a self service till well out of the way but there were certainly some people who came a lot closer than they should have done. I was really cross but didn’t want to spend any longer in there than I had to rather than take time and complain to the manager.
After lunch we finally tackled fitting the handle to the bath. It went a lot smoother than I expected and than our last big job of the television cable which took a couple of days. Colin managed to drill six holes in the tiles with no damage and it was tricky despite the diamond tipped drill bit. After less than an hour the handle is up and looking good - I tested it and if it holds my weight which it did it should be fine!
I rustled up a vegetarian chilli for later in the day as I had my photo club Zoom session early the evening and so wanted dinner to be ready well in time. I took me longer than expected as I carefully diced over 8 different sorts of vegetable - it was very nice (maybe not quite as good as Hester’s) but it filled us up and we have another two portions for the freezer.
‘Zoom’ started at 7.45pm to get us all online before the 8.00pm ‘Clap for the NHS and Essential workers’. A very good turn out this evening and we rang our bells very loudly and waved at our fellow neighbours.
Our photo club meeting tonight was a replacement of what should have been our private view at the Landmark Centre. Eight members presented their panels and it was really good. I am presenting mine next Thursday. Great to see everyone again - this is the pic I took on my phone of one of two ‘pages’ of members at the meeting and then realised I could have just done a screen grab and it would have been a lot more effective!
