23rd December 2020

Day 280 since the start of the 1st lock down.

Hooray, at last the two parcels I sent to Hester and Mum have arrived and actually they did arrive within the 1-2 days quoted as they were not actually collected until Monday evening despite me rushing to get them to the shop for Sunday evening. I had been tracking them every half an hour or so but in the event it was a text from Mum and Hester that alerted me to the fact they had been delivered. I am so received that everyone has their Christmas presents after the last minute news that Christmas was in effect cancelled with family for those of us in Tier 4.

The rest of the day was spent waiting to meet up with Karen for a parcel exchange. Due to us all being in Tier 4 now, we can only meet outside and in theory only with one person - the weather tis intermittent torrential rain so not that conducive for a walk either as we had hoped. Eventually, several hours later than planned, we finally met in Nonsuch Park near Ewell and exchanged bags wearing our facemarks. Not our usual Christmas but at least all the family presents are now in the right place.

I had hoped to visit my friend Sarah and her daughter Izzy on the way back whom I have not seen for ages but she was not feeling too good so I am hoping we can catch up after Christmas before she goes back to her residential school in Hertfordshire.
