1 year, 274 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020.
Sadly we all headed home today to north Yorkshire in Hester and Brian’s case and back to Teddington for Colin and myself. I cannot believe that we have managed to see both our families over Christmas and New Year and with copious LFTs have managed not to catch Covid or have to go into isolation.
Hester and Brian set off in the morning as they have a considerably longer journey than we have ahead of us. We decided to stay for lunch and left around 2.000pm. It was sad to leave but this was not as bad as usual as Mum and Ian will be visiting albeit briefly next week when they stay overnight before I take them (on the very early run!) to Terminal 5 Heathrow.
I drove the first stretch and it was pretty clear albeit with rain and the biggest difficulty was the fact that for some reason the dashboard controls and built in SatNav brightness was so low I could barely read them and neither of us had any idea why it had happened or how to fix it! I eventually managed to stop at a random Costa Coffee on a roundabout. It was not clear where the entrance was so I had to do three circuits of the roundabout before I could figure it out. I was rather tired by this stage.
We did manage to adjust the controls back to normal brightness but I have no idea how they had been altered as it was so long-winded to correct it and could not have happened by accident!
We arrived home and with a short stop, the time was very good for driving on a bank holiday. Pingado seemed very pleased to see us this time, partly as he has not had a visitor for a day or so as our neighbour has developed Covid and I think he missed us. It seems very quiet but at least the Christmas tree still looks good so we enjoyed the decs before they come down in a few days.
