2nd March 2022

1 year, 328 since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

A sad day today as in the afternoon Colin and I took our neighbour Val to the funeral of Colin’s long time friend Vanessa who passed away a few weeks ago. She had developed dementia and we had hoped to see her but had been delayed by the Covid restrictions and she unexpectedly passed away in hospital from pneumonia before we could visit.

The service was at the Kingston crematorium which we’ve not been to before and was led by Vanessa’s vicar from her local church. It was very good as the vicar had been good friends with her and had visited just a couple of days before she passed away. Vanessa was a chiropodist and the vicar joked that Vanessa had looked after her soles while she looked after her soul. A sad day and her husband Barry is clearly devastated and also looks quite poorly.

We did not go to the wake as we did it really know many people but Val came in for a cup of tea and it was nice to have a proper chat rather than a passing greeting in the street.

I had wanted a photo of the cemetery which was actually very attractive with spring flowers and trees but I didn’t get a chance so this is a rather sinister photo I took of my shadow when walking back from M&S in the evening.
