A much better day for photographs today, this project is a bit like the London buses, some days there seems to be little chance of a getting one and on others three come along at the same time!!
This cold afternoon we visited the Natural History Museum in Cromwell Road to see the annual 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year' Exhibition which was excellent. The photographs are amazing but the patience required to take such good images (sometimes sitting in a hide for 3-months in sub-zero temperatures) would be beyond me.
This is one of my favourite places in London photographed along with the bare branches of a London Plane tree. I have visited the museum since childhood and always visit at least a few times each year. The architecture style is Romanesque, designed by Alfred Waterhouse and it first opened in the 1880's.
We also collected our Burmese visas so we will definitely be visiting in February - should be a few photo opportunities there!
Emma, lovely, brings back memories of family trips and school visits too. Went past the other day for the first time in some years.....must go back! This exhibition sounds interesting, perhaps this is my chance.
@nicolaeastwood - it is a great exhibition and is on until the 3rd of March @maggiemae - we are really excited, we've been lucky enough to visit other places in SE Asia but had postponed Burma because of the political situation but I feel happier going now as the country opens up - we met some rescued elephants in Thailand, they are fantastic, I'm hoping we see some more (here's a couple of young ones we saw in Chiang Mai http://www.emmadurnfordphotography.com/gallery_351361.html)
@oconnor71 - I got a bit fed up with the exhibition about 3-4 years ago as images looked quite 'samey' each year but last year and this years are superb, especially the children's portfolio (the ones where they haven't obviously used Mum and Dad's expensive kit!)
