20th February 2013

The sun was beating down today. We seem to have been climbing steps all day, first up Mandalay Hill to see the Pagoda at the top and later in the day half way up Yankin Hill. I have to admit I was flagging a bit at this stage!

What I have been doing as well as photographing the temples and Buddhas is to photograph the numerous temple cats and dogs. These live in and around the temples and are normally fed by the monks and people living nearby. They are not always in the best of health but do get to sleep most of the day in the shade on the cool stone benches and steps. This is one such temple dog at the Yankin Paya on a stone bench engraved with Buddhist teachings in Burmese.
