Nature will break your heart

Today some crows showed up and quickly discovered the finches' nest. We tried everything to scare them away but they kept returning. Wild Birds Unlimited mentioned a "magic halo" made of wire and monofilament line, but we wondered if it would deter the mama and papa finches as well as the crows. While we were researching our next move, a crow emptied the nest of the babies and remaining egg.

I know crows have to eat, too. But we had even named these little guys--big mistake. RIP Evander and Rosie.
😩 Oh no! You are absolutely right! How heartbreaking especially when they were almost like family. Such a cute picture of them too!

So sad isn't it but nature sometimes is cruel. At least you got this splendid shot of these two cute babies.
