This is my family's 1/4 acre wildlife pond. It was carved out of a swamp by a dragline in the 1960s and is fed by nearly 100 fresh water springs. We pull out the pond lilies and rake out the pollen and grass like a big swimming pool to keep it looking clean and to prevent it from filling in. It is home to bullfrogs, sunfish, large mouth bass, dragonflies and a snapping turtle who visits in the spring. I love photographing the reflection of the trees from this angle, and will go back and do it again in a month when the leaves have turned.
This is so pretty - wonderfully calm day today I see. Your reflections are beautiful. Can't wait to see it when the leaves turn. How delightful to have your own nature preserve!
