August Alphabet Words - F is for Fence

The countryside was once filled with split rail cedar fences but they are now few and far between. the ones that remain serve more as landscape features than keeping livestock in.
Any type of fences are becoming rare in our area. They get in the way of farmers who wish to grow crops rather than look after livestock.

They were all over the place at one time since they were the cheapest, easiest, and fastest to put up.
They are mostly gone now.
