On a day trip to Sheffield, my eye was caught by the various water features in Sheaf Square, immediately outside the railway station entrance.
This area used to be a car park and taxi rank, but these facilities have been moved slightly further away and a beautiful quiet square now welcomes the traveller.
The steel wall with water running down celebrates Sheffield's heritage as a world famous steel producing city. It also creates a barrier from the noisy road running past, and an attractive sheen of light. Fountains and dozens of small waterfalls and various walkways complete the scene.
An amazing transformation from the noisy polluted area that it used to be.
@bruni Thank you. I travel to Sheffield frequently and the end result has been worth the disruption experienced while it was being constructed. Katharine
@pukeko Sorry to be so late in responding Marg. I couldn't choose a view so put up several. It really is a nice welcoming feature when I visit my parents, it even looks good in the rain. Katharine
