Wallpaper Art, The Arches, York by fishers

Wallpaper Art, The Arches, York

I wanted to capture more of the wallpaper art while it was still in good condition. Sadly some of it is now peeling away or had other notices put over it.

The Arches on Leeman Road are the tunnels going under the railway line. Many visitors walk through the pedestrian tunnel to get to the Railway Museum or to enter the Railway Stations back entrance ( lots of steps so you need to be fit and agile!).

The tiled walls and curves have given the wallpaper a different dimension, especially the "books" which can also be seen in the Black Swan location. The Arches also have the most coloured pieces of wallpaper, much of it is black, white and shades of grey.

Again to try to give an impression of what the Art looks like I wanted to use several pictures but use a different format to my last collage. I had seen this effect on 365 before, so thank you for the inspiration and thank you to Ian who helped me with this.

Katharine
What an interesting subject. I like your collage to bring the collection together. It is such a cool form of artwork.

A wonderful collage of the single wall paper art photos. I like the one with the books as there you can see the arch of the tunnel. fav. Kathrine.

I think your collage certainly shows the wallpaper art off Katherine. What a great way to liven up a dull tunnel and bring interest to a commuters day.

@witchyjacq @monkeykid Thanks.York is becoming quite innovative in the art field. Our art gallery is closed for 18 months having a revamp so this is an alternative. Katharine

@padlock @pyrrhula @dolphin Thank you. Collage is great when you can't make up your mind which if any shot does the subject justice. Katharine

@wordpixman @rossevs Thanks. I'm finding the wallpaper art quite fascinating, as you can tell. They are quite easy to miss, some people only noticed because Ian and I were snapping away. The art has only been up a couple of weeks Arthur and is already showing signs of wear and vandalism. Katharine

@malc @bkbinthecity @rhos Thank you. Some of the credit must go to Ian as he is teaching me how to use the appropriate software (a bit of an uphill struggle). Katharine

@bobhuegel @tonydebont Wall papering outdoors is part of a Papertrail project by Debra Bowness. The little iformation I have suggests it might be found in other towns or cities. Katharine

@casablanca Thank you, glad you like it. This was one of several run down buildings that were decorated at that time. Interestingly all except this tunnel have been renovated since then.
