This little gem of a timber framed house is nestled between two much later buildings in Colliergate, York.
The building dates from the 16th century but is now home to a business selling and repairing domestic appliances as well as selling various accessories and spare parts. Advice is free and tailored to the customers needs. Ignoring it is usually a mistake!
I like the building having such a practical use despite its age. Its easy to overlook or assume it is a "mock Tudor" building. Further information at:
A beautiful pic. of this lovely , what we call : a `` Vakwerk House`` Many of them to see in the south/east of Holland and may more in Germany. Love it.
@dolphin@pixiemac@bobhuegel Thank you. I've wanted to take its picture for a while but the view is often blocked by delivery vans or cars. Its only sound the corner from the Shambles but not really on the tourist trail. Katharine
@purplehaze12 It is a wonderful shop Hazel with a nicely uneven floor inside. Across the road is an equally wonderful hardware and kitchen shop, although it is a less interesting building. Katharine
@tryingforsighs Living here helps! Early morning is a good time and I have found around 5 pm as people want a sit down and a meal. Christmas day, Ian and Lucy tell me gives great opportunities! Katharine
