Another stay at my mums after her latest hospital visit, and I was fascinated to watch three magpies in her front garden, seeming to totally ignore the rain that was falling.
This one hopped up onto the wall and seemed to stand watching the other two, giving me a chance to get a shot of it.
This shot is not quite as sharp as I'd hoped, but it was taken through a window, it was raining, and the camera was at maximum zoom, where sharpness isn't quite as good as with lower levels of zoom, so I suppose I should be happy with the result.
There seem to be a lot of magpies around at the moment, and they don't half cause trouble as well as the racket they make. One for sorrow, and he looks that way. good shot.
@fishers just saw this in the birds forum. In Australia we call these guys Pied Butcher Birds. I have a shot of one that we feed and some of the local magpies on my project. If you would like to have a look.
@fishers birds are the only thing that we have on a regular in our backyard. I should go out and see the country side a little more (but don't have a car), I am going to see some aboriginal sites later in the month which I am excited about.
Thank you Liza - I don't drive either, but I do like a walk in the countryside. It's amazing though what can be found to photograph even in the local area where we live. I look forward to seeing your shots of the aboriginal sites!
