After Saturday's collage of the Stonemasons art in Deans Park, I thought it would be nice to visit the Stonemasons Yard. This is currently in the grounds of York Minster, near the East Window, which is in the process of being restored.
The Masons are usually plying their traditional trade while daylight permits. Even if they are not there, it is possible to see both finished carvings, and those in the process of being carved..
Sadly there are no free samples of their work - it is behind a strong high fence - but it is worth visiting to see the work in progress. No need to rush though, renovation of York Minster is a perpetual task.
