So Lucy and I are now well into our exploration of the sights of Paris, with four different areas of the city explored, so I'm rather spoiled for choice about what to show you first. In the end I chose this rather splendid building.
The Palais du Luxembourg wasn't on our planned route, but we took a little detour to have a rest in the park which surrounds this lovely building.
The palace was built as a royal residence for Marie de Médicis, mother of king Louis XIII of France and of Gaston, duc d'Orléans, just near the site of an old hôtel particulier owned by François-Henri de Montmorency, duc de Piney-Luxembourg, which is now called the Palais du Petit-Luxembourg, home of the president of the French Senate. The Palais du Luxembourg itself is where the French Senate meets.
The gardens around house dozens of statues, including yet another copy of the Statue of Liberty!
Great to spent you days with those problem. Beautiful capture of this beautiful Palais.
Thank you and all of you family for the nice comments and fav.`s you send me. I`m allway`s very pleased with it . But a return I`ve to remember 4 day`s.
