New Growth by fishers

New Growth

The rain showers of the last few days have done wonders for our garden. This shows new growth on a Queen Elizabeth rose bush after a shower of rain yesterday afternoon. Rain showers have continued today and are forecast for the next few days.

Queen Elizabeth is a pink Grandiflora rose cultivar, bred by rose grower Dr Walter Lammerts in the United States in 1954. The rose variety is very popular worldwide and has won numerous awards, including 'World's Favorite Rose' in 1979.

Queen Elizabeth was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II who had ascended the British throne in 1952. It is a vigorous rose with thick stems and large prickles, and grows well in poor soils. The plant is very disease resistant and blooms in flushes from spring through autumn - and if autumn is mild we have had flowers almost up to Christmas.

Lovely fresh feel to this, the young foliage sprinkled with the rain should give you some great blooms. I agree with Bruni, it would be great if you would take a picture of the flower when in bloom.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.

I will post a shot of the Queen Elizabeth flowers when some more appear. The first flush of flowers have been badly battered by the wind and rain over the last few days, but there are lots of buds which should give a good display of flowers quite soon.
