The fruit of a sycamore is called the samara, and is often referred to as a whirlybird, helicopter, whirligig, polynose, or, in the north of England, a spinning jenny.
Thank you for you comments and faves they are appreciated.
@bluefirebucket - When I was a child we called them "spinning jenny's" Thanks Mick.
@pwt@ivan - Two images, foreground leaves background trees. Foreground image taken with +2 exposure against a clear sky, so the sky is blown out, and the leaves are almost transparent, then converted to B&W.
Background image left as colour and blurred a little in PS. Both images opened with PS and layered, Change the opacity and blending modes to whatever suits you. Then play with the burn and dodge tools. Thank you.
@gamelee Thank you very much , Lee. I will have a go. I'm still not confident with Layers! Beautiful image this technique has created - in the hands of a skilled user, of course!
